Eternally Embraced
Fall 2021
alone at sea, at peace...

This collection explores themes of abandonment and isolation that I experience when surrounded by the quiet of nature. And it is in those moments of loneliness that I feel the deepest connected to myself and the land around me, especially the ocean landscape. I am comfortable and my mind is at peace when I find myself alone with the natural world.
It is when I feel my feet intertwined with the ground
beneath them, becoming a single entity... like tree roots
and soil entangled in an eternal embrace.
These three garments experiment with restriction of movement which represent the overwhelming feelings of isolation and abandonment I am overcome with when I am in nature. Smothered and buried in nature's arms almost to the point of entrapment, I find it difficult to free myself from nature's grasp.
